Aggressive selling of BT Broadband

I was a bit amazed at the lengths a salesman went to over the phone to up sell us BT Broadband from our landline only account.

My wife has told me that a salesman from BT has rung up on a couple of occasions advertising an 'amazing deal' that she simply 'cannot miss out on'. And on one occasion last week, whilst I was at work the guy asked if I was in (the account holder) and then when my wife said that I was not and that I dealt with things, he then asked if she was Mrs Moindrot (which by a a couple of weeks she is), and then encouraged her very strongly to take up the 'amazing' offer now to 'surprise me'!

I cannot believe that this suggestion was anything other than an aggressive sales tactic. Now I am very happy for my fh to make decisions for us, but we are pretty clued up with chosing carefully our broadband provider - was Bulldog but now Bethere (Be broadband) due to it's policy on traffic shaping/usage policy - so I would most definitely not be happy to find our broadband 'slammed' to BT. As far as I am aware I'm the BT account holder so this guy shouldn't really have been trying to persuade my wife to make that decision should he?

I did make a complaint to BT - but all I got back really was an email saying that they are sorry that I do no wish to receive sales call and they have opted me out. But I still find it pretty disgusting. We are only just newlyweds - do they want to be the cause of our first falling out? ;)

Cheers, Will

move the phone out of the kitchen </seriously only in jest>....

other than that its just sales patter and wouldnt take it as anything worrying.. As long the caller was polite with it wouldnt take any offence..

Quiet a few like it, they know no boundaries just to get you on board.
Once on board, your on your own until you can get out the contract.
