7 to 9 cover the Metropolitan branch to Watford, Chesham and Amersham. It also covers the Overground service to Watford Junction.
It does not cover Dorking I'm afraid.0 -

You'll need to get a return ticket into London (Waterloo I'd imagine) and then you can use your travelcard from there.0

You do not need to buy a ticket to Waterloo - only as far as Ewell, from where the travelcard is valid
Your travelcard IS valid on the 465 bus from Dorking to Kingston (but not on any other buses in the Dorking area) - as this service is TfL sponsored. You could use it to pick up the train at Surbiton0 -

Thanks everyone - I thought it was too good to be true and too easy! We're staying overnight in Epsom the night before, so it seems I just need to buy train ticket from Epsom to Dorking.
Hope the trains can cope...!0 -
Epsom to Box Hill & Westhumble would be nearer - it's the station before Dorking.0
