Can my donation be for a specific cancer?

Hi. Is it possible to make a donation to cancer research for a specific type of cancer or would my donation just go to cancer research in general?
Thanks
Thanks

If you call the charity you can ask to make a restricted donation. Some will do this for you. Hope that helps.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -

Does the specific cancer have it's own charity? If so I think that a donation to that particular charity will concentrate on their own research.0 -
For example, if you wish to donate to Bone Cancer Research, there is a specific charity for this.0

Iv'e tried a google search for cervical cancer but they don't seem to have their own charity. If anyone knows otherwise please let me know. If not I'll just make my donation to cancer reaserch in general.

There is a charity called wellbeing of women which deals with "womens" cancers amongst other research issues.0

CRUK are quite good at dealing with specific requests. They're big enough to have the systems and manpower to do so, it also means that if they send you materials talking about what they've done this year, they'll talk about the work in the area you are most about.
SImply call them up at the placce you donated/your nearest place/head office, and it should be fine.
PS. I'd love to hear how it goes, as I only know the theory, not the practice!for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0 -
Thanks Murdina and GiveItBack. I'll look into both options:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Hi Cervical Cancer falls under Gynaecology but there is a National Cervical Screening Programme which may be something to consider.

Only know this as I've worked within a Cancer environment.

I do a lot of fundraising for Cancer Research UK and when I donate the proceeds I often target the money at a specific type of cancer, if that is what I have been focussing on in that campaign. My CRUK rep. told me to make my cheque payable to 'Cancer Research UK' and add after that the type of cancer research that I wish the funds to go towards. I have done this on several occasions and my letter/certificate of receipt always reflects the fact that the donation has gone to that type of cancer research.
You can always phone your area office (details on the CRUK website) and they will be able to help you if you are still uncertain.
I hope that this helps you.0 -
You can also donate to a ward in a hospital that deals with that particular cancer.0
