Just say you wasn't drunk and you have a habit of washing your clothes with alcohol.0

Is that really that unacceptable.
Perhaps if you answered Sarah's question - such as 'what advice are you wanting'?
My advice would be perhaps to NOT have a drink in future prior to a JSA visit.
HTH.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Actually, when I attended my interview last week, my advisor did stink of booze, and that was at 1pm...It`s a good job I wasn`t breathalysed on the way home, because I would have failed purely from breathing in his fumes.0

The clue is in the word 'interview'. I'm sure you know that whether you've had one beer or ten, someone who hasn't had a drink will be able to smell it, and, as others have said, the advisor was perfectly within their rights to terminate the interview. Would you have gone to a job interview after a pint, because if so you may find it will take quite a while to get another job!!0

How did you smell of alcohol after one pint? What was it a pint of, meths?Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

Don`t talk cobblers..You think a pint of beer is not discernable?
The O.P was not wise, granted, but as I have said in my previous post, my Jobseeker advisor was stinking. I could report him, of course I could, but who does that help...not me, that`s a dead cert. They close ranks and protect their own...:mad:0 -

Exactly what I was thinking.
One pint? Big deal, it hardly makes you incapable of thought and devoid of putting a sentence together.

I am with those who think it was inappropriate to have a drink before going to the job centre. You wouldn't have a drink before an interview or work. The advisor has no way of knowing how much you'd had.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Unfortunately the job centre have to deal with a wide range of individuals and while the majority of people are probably quite sensible and would only have 1 drink in the situation I can imagain that they probably come across drunk individuals and it's probably easier to stop the interview than to have to discern - is this person drunk, how drunk, are they going to cause me a problem etc etc.
Apart from being embarrassed have you suffered any loss? ie are they stopping your benefit or anything? I think the best cause of action is to reschedule as soon as possible (and accept that while it doesn't sound the worst thing in the world to have done, clearly it wasn't the best thing to have done before going to the job centre- you live and learn).
If you will loose out/are sanctioned or something then you could appeal or write a letter explaining that you merely stopped at the pub for 1 drink as it was a nice day, which you didn't think would be a problem (although obviously it was) and try grovelling - it depends on how much you've got to loose.
You can of course alway write a complaint - perhaps about the manner in which the adviser acted and the fact it was communicated at volume in front of others, altough whether this will have any effect I don't know (and could possibly count against you).
I hope things work out for you.

I personally think the JC have been unreasonable in my opinion. How do they know you havent just taken your partner out for lunch and had a drink with her (for example). If you are not drunk then I do not see the problem. Personally I find the whole JC a joke.
I had a similar thing happen to me. I went for a drink with a school mate and we had lunch together after not seeing each other for nearly a year. The pub is right next to the JC so I didnt see a harm. She accused me of being drunk and I made a point of showing her the receipt for my dinner.0
