Garage Roof - rough costs?

Wonder if anyone could provide me with rough costs of putting on a new garage roof. The one we have at present is pretty old (made out of some corrugated stuff - haven't a clue what it is called!) and is leaking. I wanted to get a decent roof fitted and wondered if anyone had done this before and rough costs....garage size is average (would fit a hatchback ok).

Although could be poss cheaper to knock the whole thing down and buy a large wooden one?!

Cheers

I'm needing to do the same too, and would like to spare it from my hands!

I would indeed be very interested to know how much a replacement roof would cost.

A wooden roof? You'd want something water-proof on it.

I had a fibre glass flat roof done by these people...

    http://www.rooftec.co.uk/

It wasn't much more then a felt and tart jobby but is far superior and has a lengthy guarantee.

You can buy new corrugated roof panels, these type of roofs are bolted on through the steel frame underneth, just a matter of sawing through the old roofing bolts, take off panels, replace with new,and fit new bolts. It is quite an easy job to do.
If you go to your local builders merchant they will get them for you(just measure across the high ridge,s to get the size).I think they stock them in Wicks(now part of Trevis Perkins)
One thing to be careful of is that they could be Asbestos panels,if the are very old.
If your passed 50 dont worry about it,as its 20yrs before you will get Asbestosis;)
    hope this helps

If it is corrugated assbestos then you will need to get a registered contractor to remove it and dispose of the waste - do it yourself (or even hubby...) and you are liable for prosecution.

Joking aside, its not nice stuff....

Fair comment, but I had my done a few years ago, they did a very good job and they're still in business and very responsive.

Even if the guarantee does turn out to be useless in 49 years time (when we're all living a sci-fi life) it's still an indication that they're giving you a superior product with good build quality.

Without it being tested there is no way to find out if it is asbestos,i remove my mothers garage roof about 3mths ago,and it looked like asbestos,as all these products look to same.
Anyway i smashed the sheets up and bagged them in large builders bags and taped them up with gaffer tape.
Phoned my local council and they collected it FOC as my mother is over 60.
Worth phoneing your local council ans asking what they offer, and their advice.
