Wondered if anyone can help? Im currently unemployed i have just over £3000 on a cc with barleycard which i closed about 6 months ago as they wanted to put the rate up from 16.9 to 22.9% , have been over paying by about £30 a month. I have never defaulted on any debts and never paid late my redit rating is excellent. Im currently pying off my debts and in 6 months i should be free off my od (within the next 2 months) and the loan of £1500. So at the moment a over payment of £30 is all i can afford until the other debts have gone. What iwhould love is to get a lower rate apr card , but as im unemployed im finding it very difficult, does anyone have any help or advice? Many thanks x

Where have you applied to, and when did you apply? Several recent searches will drastically lower your chance of being accepted. Have you applied to your own bank?
Oh, and it's Barclaycard.0 -
Unlikely you'll be successful. Your credit rating will be too poor in the eyes of the lenders to extend further credit to.

16.9% isn't a bad rate - and I imagine you will struggle to better it whilst unemployed (and whilst in your overdraft).
Good call to reject the rate hike.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
