Cooling off??

Hi my car insurance is due for renewal on the 28th of July and I had a call from my current insurer offering a renewal price I accepted over the phone, but since the call a few days ago I have found it cheaper elsewhere,
Where do I stand? Can I cancel ?

Why not call up and say you have found it cheaper elsewhere would you match it or beat it ? Yes i think you might be able to as the new policy isn't due to start yet.

You can certainly get out of it but you should say to them that you want the policy to lapse rather than cancel

You can certainly ask them to lapse the policy be be aware that they may still charge you an admin fee for processing the new docs as you have accepted the renewal.

Some companies charge fees - many don't if the cover has not started and you are within your cooling off period.

You need to speak to them to check if any fee applies and if the saving with the new insurer outweighs this.

If the policy is not due to start until the 28th July they should be able to lapse it and show the policy as Not Taken Up (NTU) there shouldn't be much of a charge for this maybe just an admin fee depending on co
