Is it worth selling shoes when you're not sure of the size?

I bought some shoes recently in my usual size (6). They were a good inch too big for me so I sent them back to exchange them for a 5. The length of the size 5 was okay but as I have very narrow feet and it's a slip on style shoe, I still can't wear them.

I got a good discount on them so it's not worth me sending them back again for a refund, and like a muppet I've already worn them outside with three pairs of insoles before giving up, so that wouldn't have been an option anyway.

As the shoes sell for £40 new and I could really do with my money back, I want to sell them. But the sizing worries me, especially as some other people who reviewed them also said they had to go a whole size down.

Would I be better off cutting my losses and donating them to the charity shop, or is there a way around this? I'd appreciate some tips on how to sell them as honestly as possible. I was wondering about measuring them but not sure how helpful that actually is to buyers, and I'm also not sure what parts of the shoe I should measure.

I don't think you would get much for them TBH, however you manage to describe them. Why don't you search on ebay to see if any similar Used shoes have sold? They could see if it's worth having a go or whether it would be easier to just give them to the charity shop.
  • Just list with the size written on them, and leave a reminder on your listing, something like: 'Please note: shoes from this manufacturer can seem large when compared to others'

I would do as suggested above and see firstly whether there is really a non fetish market for these used shoes.

Regardless of what you put in your auction if a buyer gets them and they don't fit and they want a refund it is going to get costly for you. Assuming these will weigh under 750g when packed they will cost say £2.70 to send 1 st class, if buyer returns them for a refund due to a SNAD issue then you will be out of,pocket for postage outward and probably return (trying to avoid a neg).

It is likely for all that risk that shoes will go for less than £5 anyway.

Good point- I hadn't even considered that some people would be put off by the fact they've been worn. It was only for a day (so any fetishists won't be interested!) but I can understand that used shoes are are more off-putting than clothes you can chuck in the washing machine.

I did a search for similar shoes on eBay but they are all new so can't compare the two really. I guess it might be different if they were sold out but they're still widely available.

They are heavy unfortunately- it cost me £6 to return so I think it is a big of a no-go! The cost of the shoes and return postage cost me £22 altogether so whilst it is a bit irritating I've wasted that amount it could have been a lot worse.

Thanks for the advice all. They are in really good nick as I only wore them for a few hours, so I shall donate them to the charity shop and hopefully someone will benefit out of them.

I'll also let this be a lesson not to buy shoes online in future ;)

Before you donate them , what about local fee ads or seeing if there's a selling Facebook page in your area?

Sound advice. Was struggling in a pair of Skechers I bought with an eBay voucher but have now got a nice pair of Graceland shoes which were cheap but robust and much kinder on my flat feet. Had I been able to try the Skechers on, I'd have realised that they were simply not well enough supported at the sides.

Just spread loads of tuna on them for a day or so, wash it off and then sell it to those weirdos who buy used shoes!
