Manchester to Cornwall

HI,

In August I am cycling from Manchester to Cornwall. We are hoping to stay in Hostels/B&B's. Does anyone know a good route that will make sure we pass Youth Hostels along the way?

I may just copy the lands end to john ogroats route but I don't know the best one to take.

Cheers

  • The national cyclists' organisation, CTC, provide a comprehensive LEJOG pack with a selection of different routes. One is based upon staying at YHA hostels. You can obtain this pack for free if you're a member or for £12.50 if not.

    Have you heard of:

    Free accomodation from other enthusiasts!

    or:

I would think the first one would be more relevant, but the second may be useful...... Youth hostels are GREAT, I'm a big fan, but suddenly they seem really expensive to me - I guess you have to pay for all that refurbishment somehow!

Anyway, thought they may be of use to you.

This is great. I am with you Seanymph. Youth Hostels aren't like they used to be. Pretty expensive.

We would ideally camp because there wil be around 5 of us cycling - so could be difficult getting into places. However carrying a tent whilst cycling does not fill me with much excitement.

It'd be nice to just have a spare set of clothes and a credit card. Think about the money afterwards. :)
