Lost Rabbit in Garden for 2 days...

Hi there
Just a quick post to see if anyone can offer any advice.

Yesterday morning before I went to work about 6am there was a small black rabbit in my back garden, I presumed it was wild and so left it to it's business and went away.

Came back last night about 7 and it was still there - just sitting in the middle of the grass munching away. At closer look it actually looks like a domestic rabbit, and I don't want to just leave it as it clearly can't get out the way it came in / is lost.

It has found a small hiding spot in which it can slip underneath the shed, so basically every time I even step foot outside it dashes underneath there so it's proving tricky to try and 'capture it' to take to the vets etc. Have also considered rspca but again, as soon as they step foot outside it's gonna be lodged under the shed which is pretty much un-movable.

Have left out some carrot and other veg for it, which it has been out eating quite happily (amongst eating some of my plants lol).

I've been round neighbours and noone has lost a black rabbit, so not sure what to do from here... any tips would be helpful!

You could put some flyers up on lamposts and contact the local primary school so they could make an announcement at assembly Hth

In Scotland so schools are closed, have considered that but worry end up doing that, someone comes to door looking for it and we cant get a hold of it / it ends up finding it's way out and dont have it afterall...

Try contacting some cat rescues to see if they can loan you a cat trap to catch it. You can get black wild rabbits though.

if the real owners do come tell them to bring the hutch with them as you will need someplace to put it anyhow

I've seen black wild rabbits, suppose they could have been pets once.

Any chance there is a litter of baby rabbits under the shed too?

Contact the RSPCA, they will trap the rabbit. Any caring owner will be calling round vets and rescues to see if their lost pet has been handed in.
