Consent order - how long for court to approve?

I have been granted my decree nisi and my solicitor has filed the consent order with the court?

How long should it be before the court approves the consent order?

My solicitor tells me it should be around 3 weeks (which should be any day soon), but I wondered what others experiences were.

Really depends on the work load of the court and also that the judge is happy with the content of the consent order ie that it is fair and reasonable to both parties, but the three weeks guidance you have been given sounds about right.

Your solicitor will have given that time estimate based on their current experience with the court and they are best placed to tell you. My local court is currently six weeks, so you should be guided by your own solicitor on this one.

I got my nisi in december and my absoulute at beginning of february, very straight forward but the consent order is still at the court waiting to be sealed, they are in no rush whatsoever, my solicitor told me 3 - 4 weeks max....Hope that you are luckier than me, it seems to be taking forever.

Don't you have to get the consent order sealed BEFORE you get your decree absolute?

That is the case usually and I am surprised and concerned that a couple of forum members appear to have their absolutes before the consent order is sealed.

I would imagine that if the consent order isn't sealed it isn't legally binding so therefore it could leave you open to anything happening in the future if it isn't approved.

My consent order has not been sealed, but I have not yet signed the house over to ex husband or have I received my settlement monies as yet. I thought once the court order was sealed by court, my ex then has 28 days to pay my money and the transfer deed can be signed. Surely this is better than monies being paid and houses being transferred before the court seal the order! Our divorce is at absolute and we have a clean break order so neither one of us can claim upon the other at a later date.

My ex wife was so eager to be divorced I think she has missed out on my pension.
