We had a customer who wanted to PX her Vectra Elite for this reason - she said she was sick to death of spending money on it.

She's had a radiator, tyres, springs, central locking bits, exhaust etc... So when it came in PX I bought it for my neighbour as I knew it'd had loads spent on it recently.

This was 3 years ago and its never missed a beat since lol.

    Don't suppose they'd like a Peugeot too :p

None of my friends, family or neighbours would be allowed to drive a Peugeot unless it was under warranty.

You know what they say. "Better the devil you know..."
My 9 year old Fiat Stilo Multiwagon has had a few expensive repairs lately, including broken springs, but it is stiil a good car and I could not buy the equivalent specification for less than several thousand pounds. So I shall be keeping it indefinitely.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

OP, you have been given some great advice here. Keep the car, you know it makes sense. Only when you start having serious issues with the oily bits or rust is really time to get rid.

Times are tough, better the devil you know etc.

That's exactly what I've decided to do, be a fool to ignore you guys! But seriously, I am a firm believer in when you ask for advice, listen to the responses and act on them, so car will be with me until the day it dies :D
