Fancy having a go at this and have some instructions:

Just wondered if anyone else had done this and if there were any do's and don'ts that I ought to be aware of.
Thanks

I haven't made one myself but I do have a purpose bought wormery. They aren't as easy as I first thought, I had 1kg of worms in there and fed them my kitchen waste but it appeared they couldn't cope with it all and it all turned anaerobic causing the worms to die and the contents to turn slimey and really smelly.
I have restocked and am waiting for them to settle for a month before feeding them. They really don't eat an awful lot of kitchen waste at all but I do love having them none the less. I still have a darlek type compost bin for everything the worms can't get through.0 -
I bought a wormery and as MOS has said they aren't as easy to keep as you may think, the worst sin is overfeeding, then there is the frost in winter once it gets down to seriously minus figures, then there's predators I'm sure that earwigs are cutting some of mine in half, then there's escapees. The strange thing with over feeding though is that when I go away for my annual two weeks holiday when I come back the worms have eaten everything including the damp newspaper that I cover them with to keep the fruit flies down, Oh I forgot to mention the fruit flies!0

Hi,
I have about 6 plastic trays from our local primary school... they either stack or nest into each other and have one side more open for paper to move in and out of (like an office in-tray). How can I turn these into a wormery? I have no DIY skills but can give it a go!! I can't afford to buy a wormery or a compost bin (we have neither).
