Quickest route from Peterlee to Darlington

Can anyone recommend a quick route from Horden (near the cost road) or Peterlee to Darlington?

Google Maps suggests it will take around 40 minutes but I could really do with it being quicker... maximum 30 minutes (door to door).

Routes I have heard so far:

1) A19 south, A66 Darlington;
2) A19 south, Hartlepool/Sedgefield turn off, Sadberge, A66 Darlington;
3) A1??? then Boburn turn off, A66.

    Go faster on the selected route?

    Its not as if its that far that you cant leave earlier and just take the 40 minutes anyway is it

    And when you run into a traffic jam, the timings go out the window.

    that is the best route i think. i do it to sedgefield and its normally clear.

    but saying you want a route that is faster than the fastest route is a bit like me saying can someone tell me how to get from sedgefield to glasgow, routplanner says 3 1/2 hours but i want to do it in 2. lol

    Sorry, not go faster.

    I was looking for an alternative route that someone knows to be quicker than the one GM (Google Maps) is suggesting. I often find that GM (as well as TomTom) provide routes that are not always quicker.

    You need to make sure your Tomtom is set on 'fastest route' and not 'shortest route'

    Well, Google Maps makes certain assumptions about the average speeds on various types of roads

    If you can find a shorter route using B or lower class roads, which are fairly straight and a decent width and don't have villages every couple of miles, then you might be able to average 50 to 55 mph when they've assumed 33 or 36.

    You can click and drag the route around on Google Maps to try other options

    Ha-ha!

    I meant, is there a route that is tried and tested. GM is often inaccurate.

    I've talked to a few taxi drivers today and they seem to think the Boburn route is fastest at 25 minutes during the most quiet period. Otherwise its around 30 minutes. Sedgefield is the next best with 30 to 35 minutes.
