Hi - does anyone know (or can direct me to) information on what constitutes "electrical work since 1 January 2005" as specified on the PIF I have to give my solicitor?
ie. what level of work qualifies?
what certification is required?
thanks in advance

cheers m'dear:A
will look into this further, but we appear to have kitchen work (installation of an extractor) that requires certification
Does anyone know anything about the cost of retrospective notification/certification? is it even necessary?0 -
Wasn't the extractor fitted in 2004? I'm sure I saw it when you had me round for coffee......0

*wink* ...i can't recall the exact er date, but yes i think so
I have read that cabling insulation etc is date-stamped which may complicate things!
I think they changed the colours of the cables that could be bought to make it even easier to see what had been installed since Part P came into effect; if cables are the old colours, it's pre-Part P (or some left-over cable) - if cables are the new colours, it's post Part P.
ISTR a colleague "stocked up" on cable before the new regs came in so he could finish his renovation work himself ;-)0 -
You can also "stock up" on cable via ebay. A slight premium on Screwfix but nothing compared to getting Building Control involved.0
