Have swords to sell, advice needed!

I am going to be moving abroad soon, and the sooner I can sell off some stuff, the better. The problem is, some of the things I have to sell are rather niche.

I have a collection of official united cutlery Lord of the Rings swords that I'd love to get rid of. I paid quite a bit for them, mainly on ebay originally. I'm not expecting to get as much as I paid for them, but I'd like to get a decent price.

I have never sold a single thing on ebay, and would like to avoid it if possible. Does anyone know anywhere else I can sell the swords (aside from gumtree or craigslist)?

Swords are remarkably difficult to sell, I still have a fair sized collection that I can do nothing with without risking my eBay account.

There are a myriad of rules about 'blades' and what can be sold and what length cannot, and for a casual seller it is a nightmare.

I think the best place would be to see if you can find a collectors forum that allows sales

I managed to acquire as a mixed lot a 19th century Turkish or Moorish style sword a few months back- yet another thing too good to dump but too difficult to sell that will live in a bag in a wardrobe for years.

It's the sort of thing I have stuffed all over the house and they are worth money, so do try and find. A collectors forum.

Actually that site appears to sell on behalf of customers, so maybe contact them.

  • Thanks, Soolin. Those are the kind of swords. I'm in talks with someone from an ad I posted on gumtree at the moment, so I'm going to see where that leads first. But if it falls through, I'll contact that website. :)

When I read they were 'cutlery' swords I thought they would be the size of a table knife, not 52" long with a 40" blade!:rotfl:
