Hoping to pick brains again - have to buy a wallpaper stripper tomorrow am and wondered if anyone particularly recommended a brand? Don't want to pay the earth, but equally want one that does the job. V old paper on wall and appears to be (sadly) very well stuck!
Also, is the wallpaper stripper liquid worth buying?
Have access to BandQ, homebase, johnson's decorating centre, wickes
Thanks in advance.

something like this would do the job http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagner-W14-240V-Wallpaper-Steamer/dp/B0001P16YS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342560201&sr=8-1
score the paper with this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-Maxi-Orbital-Wallpaper-Scorer/dp/B0001IWE4G/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1342560203&sr=8-8
if you don't have much to do , it may be cheaper to hire one , or better still borrow one .0 -
My Bosch is very good and no scalded fingers.Forgotten but not gone.0

For steam strippers I recommend that you don't overdo the power when purchasing because it can create an awful lot of unnecessary steam.
They do come in different power levels and water contents. More isn't really better.0 -
I use a Wickes one. It works well.0

I hate wallpaper, we have none in our house, but did have so a word of caution about steam strippers.
They are great, very cheap if you have a fair bit to do and pretty much a necessity with some papers. But, beware, it was touched on above but it's more serious than that.
It is very easy if you dwell in 1 spot too long to actually blow the plaster skim off the wall.
Steam is forced through the paper, through the skim and lifts it as a bubble.
This is further compounded if the wall has been reskimmed at some point and PVA has been used by the plasterer to add tack. Unfortunately that PVA is then reactivated by the steam aiding separation. Repairs then will be a pain.
You have been warned:D;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
