Hi
Hopefully someone can help, I have a copy of my credit report, I have no idea whether I had PPI on any of my loans or credit cards, can I send a letter to these companies to check, or will they just come back and say no you didn't have it? I didn't want to use a company as I have my credit report to hand!

If your loans are still being paid off then it's often quite simple to just ask the Bank directly if there was PPI on it.
On your credit cards, the PPI appears on every statement so if it doesn't appear there you don't have it.
For older closed accounts it can be a little more problematical. You need to write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to each lender and, for £10 each, they will provide all details they hold on you for at least six years and (sometimes) longer . They have 40 days to comply.
