Thinking about a camping holiday

I'm considering taking my son camping I'm out of work at the moment so I feel this would be my cheapest option and quite an adventure, could anyone advise me of a good camp site that allows you to erect your own tent,we would need a site with washing facilities.
If you have any tips for first time campers they would be appreciated I have seen a cheap but well reviewed tent and I assume we need ground mats so we are not sleeping on hard ground in our bags.
We live in Stratford upon Avon in the west midlands so if anybody knows a place not too, mind you saying that I suppose we would like to be near the sea and a beach:)

If you've got a 'Go Outdoors' near you they are good for the camping basics and always have special offers. We always use airbeds to lie on (there are 4 of us and we put 2 double airbeds down side by side and lie in a line) - they're easy enough to put up and down. Other essentials might be camping chairs, fold away table, camping stove, plastic plates, cups, cutlery etc and a washing up bowl. Also plenty of spare clothes and towels for when things get muddy! If you find a site that has a takeaway or pub you might not even need the stove and dooking stuff but I suppose that's all part of the fun!
Good luck!0 -

Hi, this site is really good for searching campsites in your area with reviews etc www.ukcampsite.co.uk/
The more facilities on the site the more you pay. Us as a family of 4 have camped at a farm with basic facilities like loos and a sink for under a tenner. But more fancy sites with bar, pool etc we've paid £30-£40 a night in Cornwall.
Happy camping!0
