Wireless network adaptor Xbox 360

Options
Hi, just wondering if there is a cheaper generic version of this out there and can anyone recommend one please?

Or is it best to go for the official Microsoft one?

There might be a cheaper option, try homeplugs or powerline, very easy to set up. Heres amazons offerings, heres homeplugs from ebuyer and powerline adapters from ebuyer. I have a set of powerline adapters from ebuyer and been in use for at least 2 years but cant see them listed on the ebuyer site.

If your planning xbox live gaming, perhaps playing multiplayer adversarial games such as COD, GRFS etc then you would be best advised to use a wired connection rather than wireless.

If using wireless a wireless access point works as well as the MS one.
I had a belkin one - worked fine apart from the lag.

I have to agree with DCFC79. I used to use a wireless adaptor with a good connection strength, however i changed to the powerline adapters and feel they are far superior for all xbox live online gaming.

If you have to have wireless, and you have the older Xbox requiring the adapter then check your local game store, mine was selling the adapters (used) for under 15 quid - its the sort of equipment that isn't overly prone to failure.

Agreeing with everyone above here - don't do wireless use powerline plugs to bridge the distance or run a direct Ethernet cable to the xbox.

Powerline worth it. The router is elsewhere, so I got a cable from the router to the powerline, then the other end the powerline to a switch which the tv, blu-ray, xbox and sky all plugged into that. Very useful.

My broadband runs at 80mbps - which wireless doesn't always max especially if the signal is weak. Over wireless you have more delay in the tranmission than cable, which will make the different in games like Call of Duty.
