Please help with final rent calculation!

Hello

I am calculating my final rent on a property.

I pay £650 a month. In August I am staying until the 22nd, so my rent is to cover the period 1st August to 22nd August. (these dates are correct with my tenancy and agreed with the LA)

I calculated initially a rent fee of £458 (or £461)

My LA has come back to me saying that is incorrect and £470 is correct.

Now I know we're only talking about £9 here, but I'd rather £9 in my pocket than theirs!

So could anyone help me with the rent calculation? Can happily give any more info if necessary.

Martha

They have worked it out as follows.
You pay a monthly rent of £650. To work out what that is per day, you first have to multiply by 12 months to get a yearly figure = £7800.
Then divide by the number of days in the year = £21.36986 per day,
Multiply by the number of days you are paying until August 22nd, so 22 days = £470.13692.

They're letting you off the 14p!

'tis a leap year..........so (assuming calendar month not "lunar" month) you could argue that it comes out at £21.31 per day,
    which amount x 22 = £468.82 so they are overcharging by £1.18

Sorry Marlie cross posted with you - is it your calculator or mine that's wrong ?

I forgot it was a leap year!
Not sure how you have because then it would be £469??

If you're that bothered over the £1 then you can remind them of the leap year.

    I shan't quibble over £1 :P
They have said they do not take into account the leap year (well they wouldnt!)

I am responding that I have amended my standing order, but unfortunately it is no longer financially viable for me to allow viewings :)

Pay the full (overcharged amount) and email them to request that they give the overpayment of £1.18 to a local charity to ease their consciences
