Well a small victory. The planning department have ordered Aldi / PE take down the sign stating the car park is only for Aldi customers. Unfortunately it would appear there was no planning permission required for the cameras as the pole they have put them on was already in place. All aboard the Gus Bus !0

The whole thing is a bit hit and miss, it seems, and varies over the country. Lincoln City planning are not arsed about signs.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0

Why do posters persist in calling these PPC cameras, ANPR cameras. For them to be ANPR cameras they would require access to the police national data base. As this seems to be unlikely in the extreme. All they are, are cameras that take pictures of cars. The numbers photographed may eventually be used to get RK details from the DVLA. For posters to call them ANPR cameras tends to give them a status that they certainly do not have.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
The PPCs call them ANPR cameras. Highview do at Tesco in Lewes (even though I can't actually see them, there is a sign saying they are there, and they are described as ANPR cameras).Je Suis Cecil.0

Why can't I call them ANPR cameras, just because they aren't linked up to the police system? They do more than just take photos. Do you think a person actually tallies up the entries and exits of vehicles by looking at photos? No, the ANPR (for such they are) cameras, coupled with the computer system they are connected to, do that.0 -
The PPC version of ANPR cameras work is a sort of "CCTV" version. Their computer system (probably a Sinclair ZX80) then matches up the first picture of the car entering and the last picture of the car exiting the car park (ignoring any times the car may have done so in the meantime). The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

The PPC camera system software runs of a Windows ME computer, so it crashes every now and again0

Having not heard from PE and being a little bored I thought I might give them a poke via email
"I’m guessing you don’t respond to complaints as you get so many ?
I’d like to thank you for paying to have the illegal sign changed J.
I’d be interested in your view of VCS v HMRC case ? Especially given I doubt you have the true authority to issue “tickets” on Aldi land. I have raised this with Aldi and await their reply.
Don’t worry, I don’t expect a reply as scammers can rarely defend their actions. Me on the on the other hand, I’ll continue putting flyers on peoples cars during my weekly trip to Aldi telling people about the scam and to ignore you. I’ll take your silence as an admission of guilt."
I know it's a waste of time but I do love baiting PPCs ! :rotfl:
All aboard the Gus Bus !0
