Not sure what to do next - advice greatfully received!

I purchased a second hand dress on 5th July. Ebay wasn't updated so I sent a message on 11th asking if it had been dispatched - received a response saying they were waiting to get it back from the cleaners and would post next day, which they did. All good I think until....
the dress arrives smelling like a teenager who has come in from a party and sprayed themselves with febreze to cover up the the sneaky cigarettes.
In addition the dark coloured lining has some white marks (detergent?) on it, there is a bit of foundation or makeup on the neckline and it looks like coke or something similar has stained a white flower on the bust part of the dress as well as one or two other marks none of which are mentioned in the listing.
I have washed the dress to see if that makes any difference and the white marks have gone but the make up and other marks are still there.
I really like the dress and don't necessarily want to return it but I was planning to wear it a couple of times then sell on to recoup the money but I would not list this item in this condition myself

Contact the buyer and explain that you aren't happy with the condition of the item, and it is unwearable.
You'll most likely have to return it if you want a refund.0 -
It is s shame you washed it as that rather weakens your position.
