Ha ha - how dare you! An insurer???? No chance...I work in consumer intel and am a pet lover - that's all...
I do know the market though and not everything on the internet is right! Espec defaqto!
MoreThan (RSA) must be more than 3% and RSA also have Tesco (massive!), M&S, Argos/Homebase and according to the press today have just done a deal with John Lewis/Waitrose.
I like my apples more!!

Well, there's definitely something hinky going on, as Datamonitor figures (and what little was visible of Mintel) would indicate that the largest player is probably Allianz (PP), followed by RBS and RSA.
I don't think paying out ~£2k a pop for the reports is particularly moneysaving, so I'll have to leave it there.

Well, if anything comes of this debate I have learned the word 'hinky' and I kinda like it.
The datamonitor report predates Tesco moving from RBS to RSA which would have shifted the order to RSA, Allianz, etc...
Think we're done here and should thank maxscottdog for hosting the discussion!0 -
The datamonitor report predates Tesco moving from RBS to RSA
Apparently not:*Allianz lost a small portion of its pet insurance market
share but continues to dominate
. . .
*RBSI maintained its share of the market, but the loss
of its Tesco partnership is likely to have future
repercussions
Which data source are you using?0 -
What's the expression? Lies, damn lies and statistics?
I work in intel so I have plenty of reports but can't share much data because of licensing.
However Datamonitor Oct 11 shows:
Tesco (RSA) 15.2%
More Than (RSA) 6.9%
Argos (RSA) 3.2%
M&S (RSA) 2.6%
totalling 30.4% market share + John Lewis/Wairose
Petplan (Petplan) 24.5%
Direct Line (UKI) 8.4%
Sainsbury's (AXA) 4.5%
All the others are smaller than 4.5% (inc AXA scheme)
Bored now, this is too much like work and not very MSE.
I was only making the point that with size comes stability and the Tesco/RSA partnership (to which maxscottdog is attached) might be more secure than small players...
Bye then...0
