C180 56 Plate - Air Lock?
Options
My old man owns a Merc C180 56 Plate. He recently filled up his windscreen washer water tank, and since then it has stopped working, no water comes out of the jets, yet the pump works fine.my old man believes that he has an air lock due to him rushing and filling the water tank up too quickly. Can anyone help with the best way to clear this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If he can hear the pump, have a look around for leaks, he may have dislodged the pipework. Failing that it is credible the little pump impellors have coincidentally given up the ghost and he needs a new pump. Not much chance of an airlock though.0

An inlet-side air lock is unlikely - on most cars the pump is mounted in or close to the reservoir. More likely to be gunged up.
If you're happy to get a mouth full of screen wash, you could try removing one of the pipes from the washer jet and sucking. If there is a slight blockage that might remove it. I would have done in my youth, but probably not now.0 -
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

Little gauze filter over the inlet? Sludge build up in the bottom which has been disturbed and blocked the filter.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
