They can only get the DVLA data if they are an AOS member (not all PPCs are). Look at the BPA AOS members' list by Googling it and you'll know if your firm will be in touch next month with some rubbish threatograms!

Not so they can only get data by way of computer link if they are AOS ,but they can still make a paper application if they are a "non AOS" BPA member.

Only BPA members can get DVLA data that is the criteria not AOS.

    Not so.

Only AOS members can, because the AOS is an ATA and that's the only way for the DVLA to release the data to a parking firm, to a member of an ATA.

Parking companies cannot get the data from a paper application. Only other interested people with reasonable cause can, like landowners, but NOT PPCs.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Coupon is correct here, I have an email from the dvla somewhere confirming it to me.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

No BPA is the ATA not AOS .

"How do car parking companies access DVLA data?

They can do so by means of either a secure electronic link or by making a manual request. We have strict safeguards in place for both routes.

All companies requiring access to DVLA data via a secure electronic link are required to be a member of a DVLA Accredited Trade Association (ATA) and operate in compliance with the association’s code of practice. From 23 November 2009, that requirement will also cover car parking companies making manual requests.

The ATA for the car parking industry is the British Parking Association (BPA) and their code of practice can be viewed at www.britishparking.co.uk. "

Still on their website ...Last Updated: 03/02/2012....

    goes on to say ..

"What is the process for accessing data manually?

Companies that request information via manual channels have to provide detailed information about their operations, why they want the information and how it will be used. They also have to provide evidence to corroborate their request, and car parking companies have to confirm that a parking scheme is in operation, and prove they are working on the instruction of the land owner."

There have been several email exchanges with the DVLA on this and Sirdan is incorrect.

They must be AOS members to obtain details in relation to private parking by whatever method.
