Campervan holiday in dordogne

Hi, we have decided to take our camper and two teenagers and inflatable kayaks to the Dordogne for two weeks next week....just wondering if anyone has been there and done that with the kids, we want to do a route planner to but don't really know where to head as the campsites need to be on the river really.....any ideas anyone.

Haven't been there in a motorhome so can't comment on specific places/routes but we have found this camping website useful in planning trips in France.

Also maybe not the thing for camping with kids but you can buy maps or membership which allows you to stay overnight free at lots of farms, vineyards etc. Facilites are few so you need to rely on your own resources but a cheap and interesting way to see France.

camping maisonette near Castlenaud, is a really nice site we have been to a few times with kids, there is a tiny river (deep enough pools to swim in and mess around in on kayaks/inflatables etc)alongside the campsite, also adjacent (but not right onto Dordogne river.
