Asda, Tesco, B&M or Wilkinsons usually, but only if your car takes common grades.

Depends what the car is and if you care about the engine.

I want mine to last for many years so only use decent quality oil and change it at less than 6000 miles.

Wilco 10W40 semi-synth meets the required specs for most cars. I use it in my merc. Around £14 for 5 litres.

Someone posted on here a few days ago that ASDA were selling oil for £1.50 per litre.

depends what make/model and specific oil requirement for your engine. I bought some VW 505.1 stuff for the PD engine for £12.50/5 litres which was a steal.
Keep an eye out on ebay as some folk change their cars and just want rid of excess for peanuts..

Depends what it takes. National Tyres will change your oil and filter for about £30 (£40 or £50 if it needs special fully synth) so hardly worth doing it yourself....

Until you read posts from people that are asking about the oil they put in and find its had the wrong stuff put in.

Yeah, wouldn't take anything special there, fine for my old rover that just wants 10W40 though.
