Okay - so i got a parking charge notice...

Hello all,
I feel bad for feeling the need to write this as I have just spent 2 hours reading old posts/threads on this subject (having got past the anger / verbal abuse stage having received a Notice To Owner from Parking Eye in the post this evening, the B******S - sorry, still a bit of abuse there.).
I gather that the best option is to ignore.
I also gather that the PPCs may now have some more of the law on their side due to our weasel government handing them the right to pursue the "Registered Keeper" of the vehicle rather than the driver with whom their "contract" was made.
If I ignore their requests/demands and this inevitably goes to a Debt Collectors, then my question is, will this go to court? Or rather, how likely is it that this will go to court? And if it does, and I "plead the fifth" and stay quiet, and not name drivers, how likely is it they'll secure a "win"? And if, assuming all these remote probabilities, I then pay up, does this go on my credit rating?
My moral sensibilities are outraged at what amounts to unsrupulous privateer extortion which has the blessing of our beloved government (B******S). I was brought up in the early Jurassic Period where fair-play, courtesy and consideration for others were carefully beaten into us.
Ironically, that same moral code quietly urges me to pay because I suppose I may be in the wrong having inadvertently parked on someone's private land whilst out shopping. (Honest, I didn't see the signs, I just assumed it was a free carpark at a retail outlet so I didn't look).
It's the debt-collectors stage that concerns me - is this a valid debt or isn't it?
Sorry for asking the oft-asked again, but fear and confusion conspired to cloud my judgement.
Thanks for any advice leading to clarity.

Dont pay, its a private parking company, they have no legal ability or status, there threats are all empty and toothless, theres nothing they can do to you. Just ignore them.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0

Who issued the ticket? From that information you can view the sticky at the top of the forum section and see exactly what letters will be coming your way.
Ignore them, nothing will happen. Do not contact them in any way. Let the blood pressure normalise

Nope! Not valid at all. These debt collectors have no official capacity, and have just as much power as you or I to "enforce" an alleged debt, i.e. NONE AT ALL. They are ignorable as the PPCs, as are the so-called solicitors who may follow. It's the debt-collectors stage that concerns me - is this a valid debt or isn't it?0 -

Debt collectors have as much legality as you and I to chase a "friend " for the tenner they owe. A debt collector can only chase you for a debt thay they owe and not one for another company.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

they might as well hand the debt to the next Ice Cream Van that drives past, he has the same powers as a debt collector .**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts.
