Cracks appearing in plaster, 8 months old

Can anybody give me any advice please?
I had a room plastered last summer. I waited for the plaster to dry out ( a pinky colour from brown) which only took a couple of days as it was so hot and then I painted it.
I gave the walls 2 coats of watered down paint first (half and half), allowing it to dry out each time. And then 2 coats of the colour I wanted. I was really careful, and was really pleased with the results.
I have just noticed lots of hairline cracks appearing all round the room, mostly diagonal but some vertical. What did I do wrong, and what do I need to do now?
Please don't tell me it will need replastering again. There was such a mess last time.
Thanks in advance of any help you can give me.

This is quite common with new plaster.
If the cracks are an issue from an asthetic point of view I would clean them up a bit and apply a flexable filler then sand down. The repaint. However you could just live with them and fill them before you redecorate.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
I dont think you have done anything wrong, I am a P&D and I come up against this all the time, it could be the plaster dried too quick, there is many reasons, but I am afraid this is a common happeneing, specially on extension work.
If you find you cant live with them, then cut them out and fill, rub down the filler, then get some diluted PVA or Unibond, and brush over these filled bits.
When dry, then emulsion as normal, but before you actually roll, get some watered down emulsion, and brush some paint on these filled bits at least twice, this will stop the filler showing thu your finished wall.:D0 -
this has been happening to our walls over the past 6 months
We've had literally every wall plastered and now we're finding small hairline cracks appearing. We did everything like you (ie preparing the walls) but accept that they are movement cracks and cant be prevented. We are simply going to fill, sand and repaint. I guess it's just the same as new-build houses with new plastered walls0
