Travelling 'pre-loaded credit card' query.

Hey everyone,

I need a bit of help!
I am travelling to America in December and I cannot decide whether to invest in this 'pre-loaded credit card' now or later?

The website is called 'My Travel Cash'. I would like to wait closer till the date, however I wouldn't want to miss out on the good exchange rate. I know noone can predict the future but does anyone have an idea how the exchange rate will be going in the next few months?

Many Thanks

Ashleigh

No, nobody has any idea - or rather they all have different ideas

What you want is a bottle of 20 20 hindsight

Sorry to be a little tetchy but this question is asked every few days and there really isn't an answer

And if you are getting a prepaid card I am sure the My Travel one is average at best - there are better deals

Just browse this forum and there will be plenty of advice
  • we have just returned from the usa and we took the post office pre paid card and the thomas cook one. i would urge you to be careful as they were turned down in more places than they were accepted. we had to put hotels and car hire on our uk credit cards as a result we returned with credit on the cards. when we tried to exchange it back into pounds the exchange rate and admin fees were eye wateringly high. in total we are set to lose around £700 on the deal. the post office customer services in particularly are extremely unhelpful. with un returned calls and broken agreements. a month on and we are still waiting for an outcome and refund.

Don't use prepaid cards in the USA. Everywhere puts much higher authorisations on the card for much higher than what you are buying. Get an exchange free cc or exchange free debit card
