I have been having a clearout and found a watch given to me by my Uncle a few years ago and never been worn, still has a plastic seal over the gold strap.
The problem is my Uncle used to be a jeweller and when he was doing okay he would give you the real mccoy and when he wasn't doing so well would give you knock offs, so I am unsure if this watch has any value or not and I am a bit scared to list it on ebay, it is a gold (colour) watch and the name on it is Montres Swiss Skier with a little swiss flag on the right hand side of the name, does anyone have any idea if this is a genuine brand or not, a pointer to a manufacturers web site could help in identifying it, but I can't find one.

It is a real brand, google showed quite a lot of results However whether it is a good brand or even real is what is needed, and without being able to prove it with receipts or a warranty means you can't sell it as real without running into difficulty.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Even if it looks genuine and if it's worth anything, then you could do with a jeweller popping the back off to see if the inner movement is authentic0

If in doubt, don't list it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Montres Swiss = worth about 10-20 quid if working and in mint condition. They are a brand that have unrealistic RRPs that they never sell at and are always available at massive discounts to this. It will be gold plated not solid.
Just as an aside - 'Montre' is French/Swiss for 'Watch' so they couldn't have picked a more generic name !0 -
Thanks I will take it to a scrap gold buyer to see if I can get anything for it, it's a shame as it is brand new but probably safer than having to deal with a disgruntled buyer.0
