I'm soooo confused!
This is my first ever credit card (only one I could get!) and I'm trying to set up a direct debit with my phone company to pay my phone bill off this credit card.
They want a sort code and account number. I don't have either of those- not on the letter/online or on the credit card?
I rang halifax they quoted me wrong information- invalid sortcode and account number according to the phone company.
So now I'm confused and I just wanted to build up a credit rating!
Does anyone know how I can make a payment on my credit card? I am not allowed to use it by direct debit? I've checked all the leaflets they sent me and I can't find anything regarding this.
Please help.

You cant pay a direct debit by credit card. Direct debits can only be taken from a current account. If you want to use your card, you'll have to just pay it when the bill comes, although you'll probably have to pay an extra charge for not paying by DD.
Some companies accept a Continuous Payment Authority on a credit card, where they automatically deduct money from your card using the card number, expiry date etc, but it sounds like your phone company dont offer this option. Just use the card for food shopping, then pay it off in full each monthDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -
