How can I make a Panasonic DMR-EZ48VEB DVD Recorder Region Free please?

Hi, I'd be so grateful if someone could help me please. I have the above DVD player, and have bought some DVDs from a charity shop that are Region 1. They are TV series, like CSI.

If anyone has a clue how I can play them on the above player, I'd be delighted. If not, I'll just donate them back to the charity shop. I'm 65, and not very technically minded, so please explain as if you were talking to a young child!

On second thoughts, most 3 year olds have more knowledge than me!!

The usual way is to buy or rent a special remote, you can't do it with the supplied remote, a search will reveal other possible methods:
