Beware QuoteA and Broker King

Options
I was recently quoted car insurance prices on Confused.com and TescoCompare.com that seemed too good to be true.

Both QuoteA and Broker King were over £200 cheaper than any other quote.

However, when I called them to pay, the quotes increased, one by £120 and one by £200.

I decided not to go with either of them. If they use bait and switch tactics to get me to call, what might they be like when I need to make a claim?

My recommendation: Avoid.

If you anyone else stumbles on this thread via google as Broker king are well known for doing this.

Have a good read of this link from the FSA who regulate broker king and the comparison site. If you have entered the correct information and broker king tell you afterwards the information is wrong then quote the following at them and if need be complain about them to the FSA who will (Eventually) take serious action against them.

"making it clear that responsibility for checking customer eligibility or that the relevant information has been disclosed lies with the firms rather than the customer;"

This means it's broker kings responsibility if incorrect information was transferred from the comparison site and not the clients.

Just had a call from broker king after they came cheapest for car insurance strangely all the other times i've searched for insurance they never came up). Anyways my quote was £510 comprehensive, good enough for me as i've decided to get a car after years of motorbiking. The guy asked a few questions, then asked why I didnt have any no claims for a car (held a licence for 16 years) and explained that i've never had a car, but have used one for a year or so for a company i used to work for.. Then i was asked if i could get proof of my driving experience, ie a letter from that company. No, says i. He then says that they would not be able to offer me that price, but would still be able to offer me cover. At this point i was about to put the phone down on the guy but was interested to see what fee i'd be offered... £800 tpft, over £900 comprehensive.. i laughed and put the phone down.

Shame you can't get a letter from the company, however some insurers will give you a discount for having bike NCD - either giving you actual NCD if you're switching from a bike or mirroring the discount if you're keeping it, I believe Carole Nash do...

That's very interesting. Its renewal time for me again and when I click through from the comparison sites I often have to change slight details which haven't properly translated from the comparison site. However thus far all the changes I've made have put the premium down!
