I keep pointing out what the FOS have said.....

You wrongly tell us that the FOS have said that motor insurance cancellation fees "ceiling is £50".

This is untrue, which is all I have pointed out!

Instead of standing corrected, you have just made other false accusations against me!

(eg where have I said that I "agree the charges are unpalatable" - I used the word "unpalatable" in a quite different context - though you know that, and seemingly just want another argument)

    Ok

You think a £75 cancellation fee is palatable.
You'd be happy to pay it.
    You wouldn't complain.
    I wouldn't find it palatable.
If anyone else wouldn't be happy, complain to the company.
If they won't reduce it to a palatable level, complain to FOS as I would.
    Don't use the £50 guide I suggested.
You can actually complain for any figure.
(As an example, I have two classic cars, both insured for about £100 a year. If they were to try to charge half the premium as a fee, I would be complaining that it was unreasonable to suggest that only £50 covered their risk, and £50 was actually to cover the paperwork costs. If they tried to charge a £75 fee, I'd be really interested to see how they could claim only £25 of the policy cost covered the actual risk element - but that's me.)

Complaints to the FOS are free to the customer, at worse you'll be advised to pay.
If the FOS find the fee unpalatable, they'll tell the insurer to reduce it.

    Happy with the summary?
    Can we agree on that?

    Hardly!

I have never said £75 is palatable (or any other figure).

All I have done is point out your incorrect advice!

    You know that.

But instead of standing corrected, you just seem to want another argument, and misquote me to make one!

You may or may not think a £75 cancellation fee is palatable.
    I wouldn't find it palatable.
If anyone else wouldn't be happy, including yourself if you weren't, complain to the company as I would.
Don't complain if you are happy paying it.

If fact, forget entirely about any suggested level of fee at all.
You can actually complain for any figure you think is excessive.
