Looking for some advice.
Bought an item a few weeks back (£15, not expensive), received the wrong item, contacted seller, three days later got a reply saying he must have sent the wrong one and sent mine to someone else. And could I send it back for a refund. Replied asking for return address and if seler would cover return postage. Few days later got reply saying they would and giving address.
Returned via recorded, chased up the refund a few days later. Got it, but no return postage. Couldn't be bothered casing the return postage so just ordered the item from a different seller.
Now today the original item has arrived, no contact from seller but post marked same day as the first item I got so looks like he sent me mine and someone else's by mistake.
Obviously I want to return it, but I'm not paying out on more return postage for the sellers mistake, especially not given the slow coms and me having to chase for a refund.
I haven't contacted the seller yet because I'm not sure what should happen in this situation.
Any advice?

I would contact the seller telling them it has arrived and if they wish for it to be returned you will make it available for them to either arrange a courier, to collect at a time suitable for you, or they pay up front for return postage.
Or you could just stick it in the post with no postage on it and if they want it back they will have to go pick it up themselves, paying the postage and an extra £1 for the item having none on it

I wouldn't do that, Jen, it's technically illegal and an abuse of the postal system.
I would contact and ask the seller for return postage to be paid up front."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I'd contact them and say you'll return after they've refunded both sets of return postage.0

Thanks.
Have emailed the seller. I'd have just returned it had they been better at comms and had I not had to chase up the refund, but I refuse to be even more out of pocket.Sigless0 -
No reply from seller as yet.
I really don't want to waste time chasing this up. But feel I should as I have the original item and the cash.Sigless0 -

Send one final message and then put the item in a cupboard and leave it there for about 6 months.
Dear...
As per my previous messages, I have now received your item and do not want it. Please send me the postage costs to return it and the postage costs for the one I have already returned by gift paypal so I do not get charged fees.
If I do not receive the postage or hear from you within 14 days I will consider the item as abandoned and dispose of it shortly thereafter.
the buyer.
that might make him sit up,:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: but don't dispose of the item for 6 months.
