Transfer partners debt onto my card?

Hi all

My partner cannot get a 0% deal on a credit card. I have 2 credit cards which I was going to cancel as I have cleared the balance on them, but thought about maybe BT'ing his balances on my cards.

He is getting charged about £25-30 in interest on 2 cards, but if we move the balances onto my cards, they will be cleared about 12 months earlier than planned at moment.

My concern would be this would not be helping to improve his credit file in any way - would it be better to keep paying away at his own debt rather than clearing it and adding it to my name?

Now I realise that the debt then becomes mine - and I appreciate that many of you will advise against it. But we are hoping to buy a house soon and are trying to improve our chances of getting a mortgage - although I have an excellent credit rating, I only work parttime and this is currently a disadvantage for us.

I would appreciate opinions on which would be better for us.

Thanks

He can always just spend and pay off on a monthly basis, which would help his report. In fact, it would be better for his file that sitting with a large balance he's not making a dent in.

If you're happy with taking on his debt, then it would seem a sensible plan.
