New ASDA Money cashback card

I have an existing Asda credit card which gives me 1p off a litre of petrol - which is all I use it for. A letter arrived from Asda today telling about their new cashback card, but it's incredibly vague about what happens to my existing card, which is run by Santander. If I want one of the new cards I'll have to apply from scratch, so I won't be applying.

The letter says I can continue to use my old card and "should any changes be made at a later date you will be notified in advance by the card provider". My guess is that Asda will cut it loose and it will either be closed or morph into a Santander card.

Does anyone have any inside info into what happens to existing Asda cards? I refuse to call their 0871 number to find out as I'm an old miser.

Are you asking for speculation on the future or what's happening now?
For now your new card carries on as normal until you are notified otherwise.

I wondered what they have planned for existing Asda cards. The number isn't on SayNoTo0870 as it's a special number for this specific event. I doubt they could tell me anyway as they'll only want to promote the new card.

I got the same letter and noticed it said that if you cancel your existing card now you won't get any Asda vouchers. So if you've got a lot of these it's worth waiting until November to cancel the card to get your vouchers.

I got a 50p voucher once, and it expired before I remembered to use it. I never shop at Asda, I just buy the petrol with my card to get 1p off a litre. So if the card dies, I lose any allegiance to Asda petrol. No biggie. When I initially got the card it gave me 2p per litre off petrol.
