If your daughter is walking, Eureka (The Children Museum) at Halifax is great for little kids.

The Sealife at Scarborough is also worth a visit and is obviously combinable with visit to the beach.

A little further away (I'm assuming your in Durham) is Sundown Adventure Land (near Retford in Nottinghamshire) which is an amazing little theme/play park for toddlers.

with all due respect OP, your daughter is one year old, she's not going to remember any special days out yet.

Have fun being with her on the holidays :).

With a one year old, head for the nearest beach and buy a bucket and spade and a fishing net , I would say.

My memories as a child are filled with playing on a beach, digging sandcastles, having my dad play in the water and having butties and pop on the beach.

Cheapest type of fun and best you can have with a child IMO and the most memorable.
