Hi,
I've just had a back-and-forth debate with an online retailer who refused to refund the original delivery charge when I returned an item, which the distance selling regulations require. I had to point out the law several times, and even when they accepted that, their email was quite disingenuous:
"It will put small businesses, such as ours, out of business. Ultimately the consumer will no longer benefit from very low prices if distance sellers are pushed out of the market. If consumers want to be able to try before they buy, ultimately, they should visit the high street and expect to pay a higher price. Consumers regularly shop online and the vast majority do not expect for the supplier to absorb the delivery costs if they return unwanted goods."
Seems to somehow attempt to say I'm a) unreasonable and b) contributing the destruction of online retailing, which I don't think is really fair given it's what the law requires!
So I was wondering if there was some way of suggesting a topic to feature in the email or on the website? Seems like this isn't well known by either businesses or consumers, if it were better known maybe it might save other people some hassle.
Thanks!

Yeah I'd seen that, but it's mentioned only once about 3/4 down the page, so it's pretty easily missed. I guess the same way that most of the other things emphasised occasionally in the email are already on the site too but people aren't necessarily aware of them. I've checked a couple of other sites that I've bought from but never had to return to, and they say the same thing (no postage refund), so it seems to be quite a widespread misunderstanding0
