  • For £2.45 (meaning £1.45 missing) it would be more than a letter, perhaps a small parcel or something larger & heavier than a standard envelope.

Call or go to your sorting office they can tell you details of any postmark/company stamp/return address etc before you have to pay.

If it is a prize & you decide to pay the excess then ask for a receipt & claim it back from the company involved.

Hi. Does it have a tick box to say whether its insufficient postage, too large for letterbox or needs signing for, they usually do. I usually find its someone sent a large letter but not put a large letter stamp on (usually birthday card lol). Is it that price if you pick it up from depot, thats what I usually do or only if they re-deliver.
BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS

    Thanks for replying.

The box ticked says the sender didn't pay the full postage (includes a £1 handling fee..(.crooks)

then says ref no.RECORDED LETTER handwritten by postie.

then next to it is a box which is NOT ticked but says recorded item. just noticed that now.

    payment due 2.45

then goes onto say how i can pay ie via royal mail, affix postage,or in person.
Only thing is its far for me to get there

  • If it's too far to get there give them a ring for them to describe it to you, then if you want you can pay online & they will redeliver.

but surely, if it is recorded delivery, then it must have gone through a post office, therefore ensuring the postage was correct at the time of postage, and so not the OPs resposibility
  • Postage can & does come off whilst it's in transit. If the OP wants to find out what the item is the only way is how I said earlier.

Otherwise just ignore it & it'll be returned to sender

    no. why would it?
You can get recorded labels without payment
    then apply them as needed
The OP has made this thread and posted on it,when they will need to call the delivery office anyway.(given the aren't going to pick it up)
    RD cost 95p
    a basic letter (2nd class) costs 50p
    badabing £1.45,plus £1 fee
    £2.45

yeah crooks.how dare they expect someone to foot the costs of idiots who can't work out the concept of paying for the service they wish to use.
    madness
dont like it? don't pay it
  • custardy, I had thought of that but OP says 'not enough postage' not that there was no postage at all - does that make sense?

The cards make no disctinction between the two.
