Car boot sales....worth doing??

Did my third car boot sale ever a few sundays ago at Stafford Common. Hadn't done one in a while and remembered why...although I made a much needed £80 it once again feels like I've been violated. Watching people picking over my carefully kept possessions like an art expert over a potential forgery before offering £1 for a stack of books. DVDs, I've decided, are worthless unless they are new/nearly new releases. And I can't afford those to start with.
Unfortunately I can't afford to simply throw things away if there is a chance of getting even a few pence for them.
And don't get me started on those people who (literally) surrounded the car on arrival.
Or those Eastern Europeans who, for example, start from a fiver for a worn once jacket and then when finally settling for £2 only offer £1...
Does anyone else feel this way about car boot sales?

I can't stand the things. I've done two against my will and nearly ended up writing one during one of them;)

When my mum died a friend suggested I try one to clear some of her stuff, the thought of people offering 10p for something she treasured was not appealing.

I've been a 'professional' seller for 20+ years and I often get advice from people who go on car boot sales telling me how to sell stuff, it only slightly makes me mad:mad:

That said, I'm sure there are some very nice car boot sales, I just like my blood pressure at its current level to do any more,

I used to do a few but now I rarely bother- the last one netted me around £25 and frankly I don't need £25 that badly.

I will do another one in a few weeks, but only when I have a few higher end pieces to make it worthwhile

Yep... could be otherwise described as a social gathering for society's most unwanted and a magnet for every kleptomaniac, from near and far! ;)
