In windows update I have in important updates

Microsoft browser choice screen update for eea users of windows 7 x64 based systems (kb976002)

Do I really need this if its to do with choosing a browser? it doesnt seem that much of an important update to be in that section but wanted to check here before I hide it from the update page so I don't keep getting alerted
Thanx

  • I never update, all it does is clog up the computer with rubbish you prob never use. I just set the updater to 'never check for updates' 4 years now over multiple computers and never any problems. Cept for the SB fixes in windows a few years ago.

Here's 9115 bits of rubbish that I'm very happy to have clogging up my PCs.

You mean like service packs and security updates?

So the chances are quite high that your PC is part of a botnet distributing spam and viruses:( Which AV programs do you use?

As for clogging up the computer, Ccleaner does have the option to remove hotfix uninstallers for XP. These do build up over time.

    No; you don't need it.

It only exists so that MS can legally comply with a court judgment that said they must give users a choice of browsers instead of assuming they will be happy to use Internet Explorer.
