CTC question

morning.
anyone have advice for me please?
i have handed in my notice at work( i have another job to go to now)
i've told the new employers i can start beginning of september, had hols and child care etc booked for previous job,so thought id save hols and just put start date forward and start afresh.
So, for 6 weeks, i will be sort of "self imposed" unemployed,so not eligible for CTC.(i have budgetted and saved/sold things to fund this)
Do i tell the CTC dept this in advance,or when i start my new job,or just alter my yearly earning figure.
thanks for any thoughts, don't want to do something dodgy!!

child tax credit isnt dependant on if you work or not. its based soley on househo;d income.0

assuming that you have holiday pay, then your income will be the same as if you were at work?
jn which case your award would be the same anyway.
ive never claimed ctc so am not totally sure how it works ( if you would be entitled to more while you arent at work). just give them a call to update them if this period isnt covered by holiday pay0 -
As others have said, CTC doesn't depend on work, it is based on your annual income (either for this year or previous year).
If you get any WTC, then you need to tell them straight away you have stopped working and tell them again when you start.

When you say you don't get WTC, do you mean you don't receive any payments of it or you don't work enough hours to get it?
The difference is very important. How many hours do you work?

i work 17.5 hours a week,don't think i'm entitled to WTC.
i don't use any child care.LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
only if you are a single parent or disabled and your income is low enough0

If they have you down as working 16+ hours you need to tell them now but it won't affect the amount you get.0
