    Irwin Mitchell are solicitors.
I don't believe they would be considered ambulance chasers, my work has dealings with them and they have always been most professional.

But don't take my word for it, you don't know me from Adam!

    This is their website

i don't doubt your injuries, but how can a bruise get 'progessively worse' ?

I broke my hand a few years ago, initially there was a lot of swelling and a little bruise on the back of my hand, three days later my fingers were black with bruising. I would call that getting progressively worse.

They're the bad ones. Others are just surface bruising.

Things could become apparent for years after an accident - that's why the solicitors need contacting and to be kept informed as things go along.

I don't know the solicitors they have recommended - but if they are reputable, large, and High Street then they would serve the purpose.

I would avoid legal aid attached to your policy (paid for by your insurance company through your policy) and any no win no fee people - either by telephone or the internet.

Well done for telling your insurers. Now, go see a solicitor :)

If you're talking about avoiding people who cold call offering services, I agree. If you're talking about avoiding 'no win no fee' generally, you are incorrect. Funding by way of a Conditional Fee Agreement (the technical term for 'no win no fee') is perfectly standard and should be used in this case. Irwin Mitchell have already been mentioned in this thread; they are indeed a large national firm of solicitors and deal with personal injury claims as one of their predominant practice areas. But they, like any other reputable firm of solicitors, will seek to use a CFA if you want to instruct them. It's perfectly standard.

To be honest, the actual definition of 'ambulance chasers' varies from person to person. Some think it describes companies that cold call and actively 'chase' cases in that way. Others think it describes anybody who deals with claimant personal injury work. In reality it is media fuelled term that unnecessarily clouds the whole area of personal injury litigation. The OP shouldn't worry about that term at all, and should simply seek to find a good solicitor to handle this claim. The advice has already been given to avoid accident management companies, and that is good advice. Irwin Mitchell are a solid, reputable firm who would deal with this case without any difficulties, but equally there are many other good options as well.

Sorry my poor description, the feeling of bruising, the stiffness and soreness of my back. Stopping me sleeping, bending etc. I can't see it but I am told the bruise has got darker and bigger since the accident too.

That is just the effect of gravity on the blood.

It's nothing to do with gravity and everything to do with the way a bruise develops.

Same as any other bruise, it will develop and get darker, more sore initially before fading away. In the place this one is it will be hard to heal as what essentially happens (laymans terms) is the tiny little blood vessels break and blood seeps into the surrounding flesh (hence the reason it will be filling up/getting worse. Eventually the blod will coagulate (clot) the seeping will stop and the blood will clear away hence the nice colour change.

As you keep moving it'll be tough for them to heal.
