Consultation commenced 9th July, but I haven't seen a link on here yet. Closes 2nd October.

Interesting fact quoted that over 2/3rds of the 2.55 million Blue Badges are issued to people over the age of 65.

I know that I will be re-assessed for PIP as i'm only 63. I currently get HRM & MRC. The care element I am not to fussed about losing it when PIP comes about, as I can always apply for Attendance Allowance if I want to instead.
I have a BB on the strength of my HRM as well as a mobility car.
After reading the link it has dawned on me that it is possibly likely that I will lose the automatic right to a BB as well as the car when PIP comes in.
They seem to have added a new section in the mobility descriptor that wasn't there before and have messed about with the points.
For someone like me that was awarded HRM purely on the basis of not being able and/or virtually unable to walk - meaning less than 30 metres without having to stop due to severe discomfort they will lose their entitlement to the enhanced rate.
It seems you have to be in a wheelchair now in order to get the maximum award.
Those that cannot walk more than 50 metres AND are not wheelchair users will only be given the lower mobility rate at best.
I didn't realise that they had altered it so much.
Oh well something else to look forward to I suppose - having to rely on others in future to get me about and no more parking in front of the shops!!
I did tell my wife to vote BNP, but no, she liked the look of Cameron - he seemed such a nice man - more fool her!!0 -
You may well turn 65 before they get round to reassessing you for PIP, in that case you will be left alone as far as reassessing is concerned as those <16 and >65 are outside the reassessment cohort. Ergo you will retain your DLA in its current form as long as you continue to satisfy the conditions.
From HereThe timetable for PIP is as follows:
April 2013 – An initial pilot of a few thousand new PIP claims
June 2013 – All new claims will be for PIP.
October 2013 - If you are on working age DLA and you report a change in your condition, or your award is due to be renewed, you will be reassessed under PIP. A few thousand other cases will be reassessed using random national selection.
January 2014 - full reassessment as part of rolling schedule using a random national selection.
You will told when your reassessment is due. It is intended that all existing DLA claimants will have been given the opportunity to claim personal independence payment by March 2016.0 -

You have to be under 16 and over 65 by April 2013 if you want to miss out on the PIP move.
Those aged 16 and under 65 in April 2013 will be assessed for PIP.0 -

Found it thanks. I wasn't aware of that sneaky rule. You have to be aged 16 - 64 on the day Personal Independence Payment is introduced. However if you reach 65 before PIP is brought in then you're "safe"0
