Tax Credits - childcare problems Help!!

Hi
Can anyone help??
I rang the helpline on friday regarding my renewal and realised the amount for childcare they had for me was wrong (they had £35 a week when I pay £110 per week) but I told them about the changes back in July last year. At the time I was paying 3 different providers which reduced to 1 so I didnt question the amount I was getting as it seemed okay. They told me I should have recieved a letter as they are looking into my childcare anyway (B & C Compliance). I rung them up and explained. They said to send in all receipts which I am doing tomorrow but I will probably have to appeal as they wont back date it that far.
What should I do as I did tell them? I am going to request a copy of the telephone calls (they told me to do this by letter to the SARs team in preston).
Has any one had this problem before or got any suggestions?
I think I have missed out on quite a large amount and if it was the other way round they would be chasing for that money.
Thanks in advance
Nicola

If you are within the time limit for appealing your award for that year, then that is what you should do.
Download an appeal form (WTC/AP) from the HMRC website (making sure it is an appeal you send in and not a dispute) telling them that you think the award is incorrect because of the childcare costs, tell them what it should be and that you told them in July.

Should I wait until they have decided the outcome of the compliance checks then? I haven't sent in my renewal form yet but will need to in the next 2 weeks - I could write on their that the details are wrong as well maybe?
Thanks so much for your help0 -
I wouldn't bother writing on your renewal, when you get your final award notice for 11/12 tax year, if wrong, you have the right to appeal within 1 month.
Add up your total childcare costs and contact them again asking what figure has been used to calculate your award for the childcare element, this way it should be recorded on your file by the telephone adviser, keep a note of the time/date and name, back it up with a letter and keep copies to be used for any pending appealForums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
