hi
I use the lap top, but hubby like the computer, but it's now died, or rather my s-i-l said it's been on it's last legs for years, it's about 8 years old, and it only has 256mb memory, so i was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap desk top pc, won't need the monitor as we have one already.
thanks

cheap as chips
It would hardly be used, as we don't play games, he just enjoys watching a few old horse races on you tube, and for booking holidays.
thanks0 -
Do you already have an operating system (i.e. Windows XP, Wiondows 7)? Or do you need to buy a PC with one installed, or buy an O/S separateley?
It may not be possible for you to use the one in the old PC; if, say, it's XP, it could be an OEM copy tied to that old PC.
EDIT:
I may not be back on the site until tomorrow, but I will help if you wait.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I need to buy a new pc with one installed, as this processor is so old, and slow
i've seen this one, but was hoping to pay a bit cheaper.

From the sound of things this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Optiplex-GX260-Professional-pre-installed/dp/B001N3QR2S/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1342425542&sr=1-2 should do you nicely.0

Why not just pop another 256MB of RAM in the existing one and do a clean up? If it's been 'on it's last legs for years' and is still running then clearly it's not!
XP crawls on 256MB, 512MB should make it much faster (1GB is even better). No free lunch, and no free laptop0
