facebook timing out - other sites fine

Hello- recently started having a problem when trying to connect to facebook with Internet Explorer, although have firefox and chrome and cannot connect with these either.
All other websites that I have tried appear to be OK.
Operating system is Windows 7 and using IE9
Flash Player and Java upto date, and running very few plugins on IE.
Another PC in the house seems to be able to connect to facebook without a problem.
MBAM scan doesn't seem to pick anything up
Superanti Spyware, Spybot SnD, Avira and Windows defender scans seem to be OK too.
Can ping and tracert to facebook, but just cannot connect .
Also tried resetting IE cache, flushing DNS, reinstalling IE (although as other browsers cannot connect the reinstall was just being a bit hopeful).
any advice would be appreciated.
